Ever show up late to a party only because you forgot it was happening? That’s how I feel about Super Bowl week. So here we go. Three awesome tips with avocado.
1. Determine if a soft avocado is ripe by removing the little brown stem at the top. If you see green, it’s ripe. If you see brown, it’s rotten.
2. Easily remove an avocado pit by slicing the avocado in half, chopping at the pit (as if you were going to cut the pit in half), then twist the knife clockwise (like you’re tightening a bolt) while it’s still wedged inside the pit. The pit should stay wedged around the knife and come right out of the avocado.
3. A bag of unripe avocados takes three or four days to get ripe. If you buy a bag of unripe avocados tomorrow, they’ll be perfect for guac on Super Bowl Sunday.
P.S. Two more Super Bowl foods will be delivered to you tomorrow and Friday. I’m making one right now and it rhymes with “bead wish cleat malls.”
