The Raw Almonds and Raisins Story
Alone, they’re too extreme. Raw almonds taste boring and are tough to swallow. Raisins are too sweet and have a weird texture. Together, though, raw almonds and raisins are terrific. And they’re incredible as an at-the-office or on-the-go snack.
I used to keep a Tupperware of raw almonds and raisins in my desk at the office. When “the 2:30 feeling” hit, I’d grab a handful and immediately become reenergized. Plus, the massive container would last me a couple weeks, saving me time from having to refill.
Aside from being stashed in my desk, I found raw almonds and raisins to be my secret weapon while on-the-road. How many times did I get stuck in a Podunk town with nothing but fast food and gas stations? A million.
Everyone knows the health benefits of raw almonds. Blah blah blah. And you’ll soon find how nicely raw almonds and raisins complement each other. But, the best part of this healthy snack is its side effect: You’ll be more hydrated. That’s right. Try eating a handful at the office with no water. I’ll even go as far to say that a handful of this snack makes a good hydration trick. Water tastes delicious when you sip through a mouthful of raw almonds and raisins. Seriously. Try it.
You gotta make the mix yourself, since it’s tough to find a bag of pre-mixed raw almonds and raisins. Buy a bag of each, throw into Tupperware, done. Bring to work and be less hungry.
If you’re traveling, take five minutes and make snack bags. Make a huge mix, scoop into bags, done. And if you are in a pinch, go to CVS.
Or even just at the office. Slide a small bag into your briefcase, purse, whatever.
Raw means raw. Yes, raw almonds are a superfood. Super packed with protein and nutrients. If they’re not raw (roasted, toasted, flavored, salted, etc), they’re not a superfood. Just junk.
Go get some raw almonds and raisins now. Two bags of each. One mix for your office, and one for your oatmeal.
