Simply, the Vitamix 7500 is the Vitamix we’ve been waiting for
The good: The Vitamix 7500 has everything we wanted in the Vitamix 5200: Longer blades, noise dampening technology and a pulse button. Plus, the new wide-body, low-profile, design is sleek, efficient and smart.
The bad: Like other high-end blenders, Vitamixes are not dishwasher friendly. While the Vitamix 7500 still self-cleans with a drop soap and hot water, the technology hasn’t improved from previous models.
The bottom line: Vitamix completely redesigns its flagship product with this new generation. The Vitamix 7500 has new features and design that address the needs of prior models. This is by far the best Vitamix to date and remains the reigning king of blenders.
In this review of the Vitamix 7500, I’ll be as thorough as possible. Please comment below if you see any errors or omissions. Thank you.

Overview

The Vitamix 7500 is the base model in the Next Generation Vitamix lineup. It has a smaller footprint than its predecessor Traditional models. Plus, it packs a bigger punch.
The Vitamix 7500 boasts a 2.2 horsepower motor. This is a jump from the 2.0 horsepower in the 5200 models. While it’s only a 10% difference, the impact on blending time is more significant.
The Vitamix 7500 has 4 inch blades. This is a 33% increase from the 5200 models which had 3 inch blades. The longer blades made for smoother, quicker blends. Plus, with less work to do, the blade on the 7500 ought to make your Vitamix last longer.

Now let’s open this baby up! Like all new Vitamix’s, the 7500 gets delivered in a purely functional brown cardboard box.
Then you open it up and get to the “real” box.
Hello, beautiful.
Nice little handle so you can bring the box around to parties to show it off.
Nice first impression. Â Welcome kit and cookbook.
Let’s start with the Welcome Kit.
Hello, Welcome Kit!
You are very shiny.
Love that velcro.
Okay, a quick instruction guide? Â Thank you!
And a DVD? Â You shouldn’t have. Â Really, you shouldn’t have. Â I don’t have a DVD player anymore.
Okay, on to the cook book: Simply Fresh.
It’s a cookbook. Â No doubt about it.
Finally, I can rip off that white top.
Wait, what? Â Where’s my Vitamix 7500?
What’s that in the corner?
Oh, sup baby tamper.
Finally, the moment I’ve been waiting for.
A little closer…
And it’s we’re out! Â Here’s the container.
Differences between Vitamix 7500 and 5200
# | Back to top
Food blends faster and smoother
The Vitamix 7500 blended a fair amount faster than its predecessor. The faster blending time seemed to apply to a range of foods. Smoothies that took 45 seconds now only took 30. Pancake batter with frozen bananas were done a fair amount faster. To put it into perspective, if smoothies got done 30% faster, pancake batter completed 15% faster.  The blend speed for juicing was marginal, most likely because liquid is the easiest to blend.
The consistency of food appeared and tasted a bit smoother. Sure, consistency is subjective. And, unlike processing time, can only be judged by opinion. But, while Vitamix blenders always impress, the 7500 certainly the better performer. Smoothies, for example, had fewer chunks of fruit. Even with recipes not using yogurt, they poured as if they did. Hummus was another standout. The hummus made in the 7500 was noticeably more even.
Quieter
At low speeds, the Next Gen’s are noticeably quieter at low speed than the Traditional models. Not sure it’s 40%, though.
But who blends at low speed anyway? Maybe to make guacamole or chop an onion. But when I’m making smoothies or soups, I’m on high speed. Full throttle.
Fortunately, the decibel variance at high speed is negligible. Vitamix claims the Next Gen’s are up to 7 decibels quieter. But in my unscientific tests, the difference was just a few.
I will say, though, the Traditional and Next Gen models sound noticeably different at high speed. The Next Gen model, while quieter, had a higher pitch sound. It makes sense because the motor is more powerful. But I did notice it sounded different. And I kinda liked the sound of the Traditional better. But that’s just probably just me.
Safety
New to this generation, the 7500 series has an on/off switch. It’s nice that a child or clumsy spouse isn’t going to get injured.
With previous models, the only fail-safe was to unplug the entire unit. Plus, on the 7500 model, there’s an LED light to indicate on/off. It lights up the front of the unit. It was hard to capture on camera, though. As such, this light is less valuable than the switch itself..
What Do You Know About Feng Shui?Â
The Vitamix 7500 is fits better under cabinets. I can now store the container right on the base. With my 5200, I had to put it on the side. Below are a 7500 (Next Gen) and a CIA Pro (Traditional).
Width
The 7500 has a wider base than it’s predecessor. Certainly, you don’t want to put your fingers down the container. But if you do, there’s more room to maneuver. Moreover, there’s less chance something will get stuck.
Stability
I must point out something about the Vitamix 7500 that bugged me. The feet are much smaller than its predecessor. It seemed like the smaller feet made the 7500 less sturdy.
Granted, it could be me being neurotic. Or, I may need to run another test. But, I felt like it was important to mention.

The Vitamix 7500 is a marvelous machine. While it is different than its predecessor, most of the differences are positive improvements. Today, the 7500 is the model I recommend.
