Everything you ought to know about the Vitamix Heritage Collection
Vitamix Heritage Collection

The Vitamix Heritage collection is a cool name for a small change with a big impact.
Look and feel
It has a similar look to the past, but feels like it always should have.Durability
The premium metal shell brings added durability.Savings
Environmental and cost savings come with the introduction of the Heritage Collection. (Up-to-date pricing updates here.)Unboxing
Hoping to do an official unboxing and photo shoot of a Copper Metal Finish Pro 750 soon. If you’ve never seen one of my unboxings, the latest one I did with the 780 turned out pretty well. (Find it here.)
Background
For years, Vitamix has offered a brushed stainless version of their Classic and Next Generation models.
And they looked fabulous.
When I got my first brushed stainless model, a Pro 750, I was taken aback. Even in my dingy kitchen, it looked so sharp.
(I’m on the record of gushing over its looks at minute 7:11 of this video at the beginning of this review.)
But there was one problem.
Until recently, the brushed stainless was NOT actually stainless steel. It was a glossy paint covering a plastic shell.
(I actually didn’t realize this until a reader brought it to my attention. Thanks, reader!)
Not necessarily a problem, but a disappointing realization nonetheless.
Fast forward to today.
Brushed Stainless Pro 750’s now have ACTUAL METAL shells. And so all models in the Vitamix Heritage Collection!
But metal shells on Vitamix machines means much more than aesthetics. Let’s discuss.
Here’s the deal with the Vitamix Heritage Collection
Real Metal shells
The Heritage Collection is a lovely name for Vitamix machines with an ACTUAL metal shell.
What does this mean?
Instead of plastic that’s finished to look like metal, it’s metal that’s finished to look like what it is: metal!
From afar, you probably wouldn’t be able to distinguish the difference.
But up close, the Heritage Collection becomes clear in two ways:
- The top lip of the shell is shaped slightly different than it was in the past. (Probably only noticeable to guys like me or someone looking at the an old one side-by-side.)
- The shell will “ping” if you flick it with your fingernail. (Because it’s actually metal!).
Cool, huh?
Look and feel
These machines are in a few different colors. (Above is the Copper Metal Finish)
(see current colors available)
To be fair, I’ve only seen the Brushed Stainless version in-person. (It was during a visit to Vitamix HQ prior to official release.)
But, I just got off the phone with Mike G at Vitamix Customer Service, and he told me the Copper Metal finished 750 sitting in their break room looked awfully dapper. Here’s one of (pretty solid!) pics he sent me.
But aside from the improved look and feel, these new metal shells have a few more added benefits.
Improved durability
Let’s face it — the kitchen can be a scary place.
- Fire.
- Knives.
- Kicking and screaming children.
Metal shells, as featured in all Heritage Collection Vitamix machines, are MUCH more durable than its plastic-shelled predecessor.
Kicks, dings, scratches, and stains should be a thing of the past with this new design.
Curious about the manufacturing details? Here ya go:
First, the metal shells are buffed to “an enduring finish” (the exact words from marketing). Â Then, they’re coated to protect it from scratches and fingerprints.
So basically, a Vitamix from the Heritage Collection should stay in pristine condition for a long, long time.
But buying one of these things won’t just keep our kitchens looking beautiful. They’ll keep our planet looking beautiful!
More environmentally friendly
This is simple. Replacing a plastic shell with a metal shell makes Mother Nature happy, right?
Admittedly, I’m not not an expert on carbon footprint, recycling, etc.
But isn’t less plastic generally a good thing? More environmentally friendly, right?
So the Heritage Collection helps save the world.
But let’s talk about what everyone wants to save now: money!
Instant savings
The new shells are marketed as, and genuinely are, premium metal.
But they’re actually less expensive to produce!
These cost savings for Vitamix Corp are immediately passed down to you.
How?
The Brushed Stainless Pro 750 is new $30 less than it has ever been.
A better product that’s better for the environment FOR LESS!?
I know. Amazing.
For whom a Heritage Collection Vitamix is made
A Heritage Collection Vitamix might be for you if…
- You were ever considering a Pro 750.
- You’re interested in the most exclusive model of Vitamix.
- You think one of the finishes would complement premium kitchen appliances nicely.
- You have been looking for an excuse to upgrade.
- You have someone who’d appreciate your perfectly-fine, yet non-Heritage Collection Vitamix.
A Heritage Collection Vitamix might not be for you if…
- You’re looking to buy a C-Series (Heritage Collection is currently exclusive to G-Series).
- You’re looking to buy an S-Series (see above.
- You’re in the plastics business, and this would show a lack of support for your product. (I needed a third bullet point.)
FAQ
If I order a Brushed Stainless Pro 750 online, how will I know it will be a Heritage Collection model (and not an older, plastic shelled version)?
The old, plastic-shelled versions of Brushed Stainless Pro 750’s are no longer being sold. Even if you wanted one, they’re impossible to get. You will get a metal-shelled, Heritage Collection model if you order a Brushed Stainless Pro 750 online today.
Is the Copper Metal Finish real copper?
All shells in the Heritage Collection are metal. The copper finish, however, is not actual copper. It’s copper-colored finish on top of a metal shell.
How can I get the shell of my previously-purchased Pro 750 switched out for a metal, Heritage Collection shell?
I can’t say for certain that this is possible. Your best bet is to call 1-800-VITAMIX and learn about your options.
How does the performance from a Heritage Collection Vitamix differ from other models?
The new metal shells are the only thing different about the Heritage Collection. Performance should be exactly the same.
Conclusion
Let’s bring it all together.
The Heritage Collection from Vitamix is a tiny design change that makes a big impact. I’m really excited about its release and you should be, too. 🙂

Now try that on a heritage 750 pro like mine…
I actually don’t have a heritage 750 on which to test, unfortunately. You might want to call Vitamix Customer Service 1-800-848-2649 to talk this through. We want to make sure you’re satisfied with what you got or figure out a way to make it right
I got one that is “brushed stainless” so why does my magnet stick to it? Love the machine but I feel like I have been scammed, especially at this price point. Check it yourself with any magnet.
Good thinking. I worked summers at the steel yard my dad worked at.
That’s really strange what you’re seeing. I just tested on mine and all over my kitchen. (Unedited phone video here.)
Maybe they’re using a different coating on the Brushed Stainless finish now? I’m going to look into this
Hi Lenny!
I just now notified you of the purchase I made by clicking on the link you put on your reply to my question. I wish they retained the backlighting on the presets and variable settings, I wonder why they even took it out. Anyway, thanks for your reply.
Checking on this for you
Hi!
I just got a new Pro 750 in Brushed Stainless Steel straight from Vitamix (using your code of course). I have a question. The presets don’t light up, only the pulse and start/stop toggle do. Is this a defect or just something Vitamix decided with how they manufactured the current Pro 750s?
Hi Christian, yeah, this lighting configuration is how the Pro 750 is supposed to work.
Thanks for buying through us! Did you notify us of your order?
I have a question- do you know if the vitamix 750 being sold currently as part of their Black Friday sale is the heritage edition? And if not, would it be recommended to wait till Monday to buy the A2500 for 20 dollars cheaper? This will be my first vitamix and I am having a horrible time with making the decision!!
Hi Amy,
The Vitamix Pro 750 being offered today is *not* Heritage edition (True Metal Finish). It’s a brushed stainless color. More on this here https://lifeisnoyoke.com/vitamix-black-friday-holiday-sale/#comment-63617
Yeah, the A2500 (reconditioned) on Monday is a great idea! You’ll love it
The new metal shell is not the only difference. The numbers and icons around the dial do not illuminate on the Heritage edition. It is much quieter though.
How is this Heritage model regarding noise? It the sound dampening really any better than with other models? Thanks.
Totally. 40% quieter than all C-Series models.
I got the red Vitamix 750 (not heritage) from William Sonoma right before Christmas. I didn’t like the strange murky color of the “stainless” on the Heritage. Anyway, I do like the styling difference in the copper Heritage even if they are slight. It is an improvement. The machine couldn’t be any uglier. I wrote Vitamix and told them they should restyle the machine to look more like the original Vitamix which was a work of art. It had wonderful deco sky rise/rocket ship type looks. Both the Vitamix and Blendtec are ugly, so it Vitamix went back to the old design they would be the only beautiful high end blender on the market. Plus retro cool would seem contrived on the Blendtec whereas it is part of the Vitamix history.
Good feedback for Vitamix design team. I’m more of a function over fashion kind of a guy myself, as long as it keeps making me delicious smoothies, I’m a happy guy 🙂
Hi Lenny,
Do you know when the 780 will be part of the Heritage Collection?
I loved reading your info!!
Best,
Karen
Hopefully soon? Will keep this post updated when it happens. Thanks.
