Why you should trust us
From Lenny: I’ve made a living as a commission-only Vitamix affiliate since 2012. Despite dabbling in other health and wellness avenues (weight loss, muscle building, etc.), I’ve found that helping people buy and use their Vitamix machines is what people say I’m best at. On an unrelated note, I grew up in Minnesota (near Canada), went on family fishing trips in Manitoba (actual Canada), and spent summers at a camp where every morning we raised the Canadian flag (along with two others) and sang the Canadian national anthem. This connection to Canada does not make me qualified to help you get a Vitamix, but hopefully it indicates my appreciation for your country.
From Shalva: I went to the same camp as Lenny (despite not realizing this fact until recently). As such, I, too, know “O Canada” quite well. And I used it to my advantage during my time at university. My go-to method for getting people to buy me a drink at the bar? Promising I’d sing the Canadian National Anthem in it’s entirety in exchange for a beer. Silly, I know. But hopefully it indicates that I keep promises.
Pricing Differences on Vitamix for Canada
Prices are set by a team at Vitamix HQ. And they consider several things:
- Inventory.
- Local market mix.
- Promotions.
- Shipping location / cost.
- And more that are way beyond anything I’m privy to or interested in understanding.
But as stated above, since prices are in Canadian dollars, the difference between Vitamix.com and Vitamix.ca also factors in currency translation rates.
And this, my friends, is where you can discover some hidden value.
Hidden Savings After Currency Translation
I realize the fx rate is not ideal for Canada residents right now. Especially for those wanting to purchase an American-made product like a Vitamix.
But in some cases, your prices on Vitamix.com/ca are actually better.
(Note: Prices change regularly, so the example below is hypothetical. )
Let’s say a Pro 750 on Vitamix.ca is listed for $699. (Again, just an example and you’ll need to check current price.)
But this translates to $525 in US dollars (based on a hypothetical 1.33 fx rate).
Yet, that same Pro 750 is listed on Vitamix.com for $599.
In this example, it seems like the Pro 750 on vitamix.ca is a much better deal than on vitamix.com.
In fact, if I were a shopper living in Canada and was interested in the Pro 750, I’d buy it before they adjust the price.
Certified Reconditioned 5300 vs A2300
If you were interested in the E310 but saw it’s unavailable in Canada, you may be considering two other economical options: The Certified Reconditioned 5300 and the Ascent Series A2300.
First of all, both models perform at an equally high level. So either way, blend quality on both is great.
Now, here are the facts.
CR 5300: This Vitamix, currently priced $449.95 is a Certified Reconditioned Model, meaning it’s like new and comes with a 5-year warranty. It’s part of the Legacy Series, so is compatible with both 32-oz wet and 32 oz dry containers. It’s also compatible with the personal cup adapter — a fun add-on for down the road.
A2300: This Vitamix, currently priced $749.95, is a new Ascent Series Vitamix, meaning it comes with a 10-year warranty and all the Ascent Series Features*. It’s compatible with the 48 oz wet and 48 oz dry grains containers with Self Detect Technology. They’re also compatible with the 8 and 20 oz cups — a fun add-on for down the road.
So which one should you get?
Depends if you want cash now or cash later.
Decision:
- If you want to save now, go with the CR5300. It’s a great deal and a great machine.
- If you want to save later and possibly overall, go with the A2300. The warranty is double in length. So if you break down the cost of ownership per year, the A2300 is a far better deal.
And yes, the warranty covers everything through its duration and both come with 30-day in-home trials.
Canada only models
Now, in addition to some pricing differences, there are some models unique to Canada you should be aware of.
Total Nutrition Center – What you ought to know
The Total Nutrition Center is a Canada-only version of a 5200. It can do everything you’d want to do in a Vitamix.
- Smoothies.
- Soups.
- Nut butters.
- Doughs.
Its 64-ounce container can do dry grinding nearly as well as the purpose-built dry grains container.
And because of its variable speeds, “manual transmission” (no pre-programmed settings), and its old-school narrow container, it, like the 5200, is the best model for new Vitamix owners.
TNC 3 – What you ought to know
Also known by its full name, Total Nutrition Center 3, this Vitamix is a Canada-only name for the Pro 500.
It can do everything listed above.
Plus, it has 3-preset programs.
It’s a good model overall, but you can generally get more (a quieter G-Series) for equal or lesser price.
Aspire Series – What you ought to know
There are several versions of the Aspire listed on vitamix.ca. At its simplist, this is a 5200, generally with two features shorter than normal.
- A shorter container (48 ounce).
- A shorter warranty (5 years)
Regarding the container, the 48 ounce container is nice because of its low profile. But, it’s less versatile than the wide design that comes standard these days. Here’s a primer on Vitamix container considerations.
Regarding the warranty, 5 years may seem like a long time. But 7 years or more is standard on new full-sized machines. (Only S-Series comes with a 5-year warranty.)
Who would want a Vitamix in Canada?
Vitamix might not yet be a household name in Canada. But it’s well on its way.
So if you live in Canada, a Vitamix might be for you if:
- You are currently veganizing your life.
- You like the idea of being an early adopter.
- You want to incorporate smoothies into your life and stick with it.
- You already identify with a lifestyle of wholeness and mindfulness.
- You like to create in the kitchen and want to step up your game.
- You like adventuring with friends.
- You’ve considered getting a Ninja but don’t want to regret making the wrong decision.
Conclusion
Once you become a Vitamix owner, you’ll be a Vitamix owner for life.
It took me a while to take plunge.
But once I did, the only thing I regretted was waiting so long.
Learn your options for getting a Vitamix into your home in Canada. And then?
I’m so excited for you.
