Juicing on a Budget is Surprisingly Easy (even without a juicer)

Juicing on a budget with one dollar collard greens from the farmer's market. You want to drink your fruits and vegetables. But you don’t want to spend your entire paycheck on produce.

How savvy!

Here are a few tips for making homemade juices on a budget.

1) Use a Blender (not a juicer!)

There are several reasons to make whole food juices (using a blender) instead of pressed juices (using a juicer). Above all, juices made in a blender are much more budget-friendly.

You need a fraction of the produce to make juice in a blender.

Why?

Nothing is wasted.

So you’ll save money on the inputs; those fruits and vegetables.

But you also do not need a special appliance (like a juicer).

And you probably already have a blender, right? Dust it off and get to juicing!

Really, you do not need a Vitamix. You can make green juice in any blender.

2) Shop the Farmer’s Market

Yes, the farmer’s market is loaded with fully-priced items. Food truck-style food is a great example.

Those vendors are wonderful.

Even the artisan dips and spreads are fun to buy.

But put your head down and get straight to the budget-friendly produce.

Find the greens!

Any type that is in-season is great:

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Chard
  • Collard greens
  • Lettuce

The fresh greens are all great for juicing and are so cheap.

Buy them in bulk and use them as a base for your homemade green juice.

3) Make large batches!

Some people will only make as much juice as you’ll drink.

Don’t do that! Batch your juices!

Why? Unused juicing ingredients go to waste.

Already-made juice, however, that’s staring at you in your fridge?

You’re not throwing that away. That’s a grab-and-go snack!

So make big batches, and keep your fridge stocked!

The Best Juice Recipe if you’re on a Budget

Our everyday green juice recipe (aka spicy green juice) is the perfect formula for inexpensive, homemade, whole-food juice.

This juice is refreshing, filling, and delicious. It does not taste like grass.

We like to give ours a kick. Spicy green juice!

Here’s the basic formula:

  • Water
  • Fruit
  • Greens
  • Seeds
  • Lemon
  • Ginger
  • Ice
  • (optional) hot pepper like jalapeno

And did we mention it’s so easy to make? Here’s my baby and me making a batch:

Conclusion

Homemade juices do not need to be expensive. Grab your blender, go to the farmer’s market, and make a big batch today!

Dr. Lorriane Day was cured of cancer by juicing carrots and Green Seaweed FRESH EACH SERVING. By the way. So there is science behind drinking your juice freshly after making it, no matter the method. Within several minutes. Just an observation. Great website guys!

The late great Dr. Lorriane Day stated that you should drink freshly made juice within a few minutes of making it. However and whatever you make, it looses important vitamins after several minutes. So batch juicing , although convenient, may not be the best option. Fresh is always best.
