Day 8: 30 days of the Vitamix S30: The daiquiri test
As usual, the best discoveries happen by accident.
And they’re the simplest.
This alcoholic, blended drink is no exception.
It’s the first smoothie I’ve ever made with booze.
And guess what?
It’s definitely not the last.
What took me so long and how did it come to be?
The Vitamix S30 and Las Vegas, respectively.
Here’s the story of the Mango Mirage.
$25 for a blended drink? No thanks
There’s a reason poolside bars serve blended, alcoholic drinks.
They’re ‘effing delicious. And, they:
- Cool you down.
- Give you a buzz.
- And relax you like woah.
But if you’ve been to Las Vegas lately, you’ll know that a daiquiri is very expensive.
So I made my own
Cost savings wasn’t the sole reason I made this drink.
I was also testing the new Vitamix S30 as a part of my “30 days of the S30” series.
But after going through the process, I realized I really liked being able to:
- Be in control of the drink ingredients.
- Get it made fresh.
- Stick it to the casino who wanted to charge me $25 for a freaking drink.
No, most people won’t have a blender with them on vacation.
A boy can dream, though, right?
Without further ado, here’s how to make this kick-ass mango daiquiri I’m calling The Mango Mirage.
The Mango Mirage -- A mango daiquiri PERFECT for a hot summer day.
- fresh mango - 3/4 cup
- ice - 1 cup
- pineapple juice - 1/2 cup
- vodka - 1/4 cup (substitute rum if you'd prefer)
- Add ingredients into blender.
- Be happy.
