Caramel, Thai Pumpkin Soup, Carolyne’s Green Bowl, and More!
Hi! Here’s what’s new, exciting, and thought provoking from our Life is NOYOKE world.
(This is the abbreviated online version of our weekly email newsletter, 5 Good Things. To get the full version delivered to your inbox on Saturdays, you can subscribe right here.)
1. New blog posts, site updates, and other things we’re proud to be sharing
Good morning from Minneapolis!
Short work week for us. We spent Tuesday at Vitamix HQ in Olmsted Falls, Ohio (just outside Cleveland).
It happened to be the 5-year anniversary of Life is NOYOKE.
Lots of proverbial goodness to unpack from the trip. Look forward to that in upcoming updates from us.
But until then, here’s the podcast we were recently featured on. A really fun one!
Listen: The Body Wisdom Podcast: The Hidden Benefits of Blending. (listen via iTunes)
Read: Updated this surprisingly popular post: How to cut tomatoes for salads.
Watch: ICYMI, A Day in the Life of Shalva and Lenny.
Okay, let’s get to the incredible things we made this week.
2. New recipes we’re enjoying
No-Cook, Vegan Caramel. Guys! Guys! We made caramel. You should make this caramel. Go! Now!
Why haven’t you made this caramel yet? Stop scrolling, go back up, and get into that caramel recipe. Go!
Okay, fine, here’s the next one. It’s good. But it’s not that caramel.
+ Thai Pumpkin Soup. If you’re looking for a seasonal soup that’s great for tonight and also great to freeze for armageddon (or newborn arrival), this is it. Grab a pumpkin and make a batch of this deliciousness.
3. Classic recipes we’re re-showcasing
Carolyne’s Green. Throwing it back to the green smoothie that started it all. (Also great in smoothie bowl form as shown below.)
4. Vitamix deals, news, and updates we’re enjoying

5. Articles, posts, and products from around the web we’re thinking about
This was sent to me by my dad (who was a dog in a past life). Not sure he realized that this cute vid of kids and animals is what vegan folks pass around to help people like him make a connection to the food on their plate.
***
Okay, all for now.
Thanks and good things,
Shalva and Lenny
P.S. Here’s a quickie of us outside Vitamix HQ. (Fun fact number one: Vitamix is now considered a large company with nearly 1,000 employees. Fun fact number two: Those three cars behind us are driven by the COO, CEO, and Executive Chairman of the Board. A Honda Accord, a Nissan something, and because he’s at the point in his life where he can get away with it, the 80-ish-year-old, 3rd generation CEO and now Chairman’s red Cadillac with a custom VITAMIX license plate. Humble, humble, and hilarious.)

I am so glad I found your site. I live in Philly and last week I was checking out a vegan restaurant in the ‘burbs and found out they used the products from herb butcher in Minneapolis. I liked their page and they posted french meadow cafe. My sister is visiting my nephew in Minneapolis this week they ate there. Tonight I check out clean food dirty girl and someone posts your recipe for wild rice soup. I check out your site and you are in Minneapolis and mention the herb butcher which brings me full circle. I love your site and loved your stories regarding how you two got together. Adorable and great senses of humor. Thanks for sharing.
