The Vitamix Pro 750Â is the gold standard, best Vitamix yet
Not good things: This Next Generation Vitamix is a blender that can do no wrong. As the latest and greatest Vitamix available today, the price tag maybe the only potential drawback.
All things considered: The Vitamix Pro 750, with its brushed stainless finish, is masterpiece in design. For someone looking for the very best Vitamix, the Professional Series 750, which is now a part of the Heritage Collection, is worth every penny.
Update August 13, 2019
Vitamix has discontinued the Brushed Stainless Finish and now offers a Pearl Gray. It’s pretty good looking, actually. Watch the video below!

Update 2: I originally published this review in late 2013. While some of the superlatives are no longer valid [with the Ascent Series (review with comparison to the Pro 750) now available], my (now our!) feelings towards the design and performance have not changed. If anything, our feeling towards the (now) Legacy Series Pro 750 have improved with the introduction of the Personal Cup Adapter. Related: Here’s a YouTube Playlist featuring the Pro 750 in action.
Notes
In this Vitamix Pro 750 review, I’ll be as thorough as possible. Even if it’s something that doesn’t portray this product kindly, I will make note. My goal is to help products like this get designed better. At any price, nobody likes buying a poorly designed product? Nor does anyone deserve to be misinformed or misled.
Yes, I earn money from links out. But beyond referral fees, I am not paid to promote any products. Nor do I accept repeated offers to place ads on the site. My goal to to create a resource that I would use. A place I would go to. A community I’d subscribe to.
Of course, the commentary in this review is from my eyes. My experience and perspective. So, while I tell it like it is, sometimes I make mistakes or leave stuff out. So for the benefit of the Life is NOYOKE community, let me know if you see any errors or omissions. Thank you.
P.S. Check out the recently published NOYOKE Vitamix Guide. It covers all. 🙂
Overview
This wouldn’t be a Vitamix Pro 750 review without talking about the Next Generation lineup. Like all Vitamix blenders in the Next Generation lineup, the Vitamix Professional Series 750 is one of the latest and greatest. As of today, it is the latest and greatest. Pro 750 highlights:
- Counter-friendly. Fits under most cabinets.
- Fastest processing speed.
- Quietest run volume.
- Most user-friendly interface.
- Safest of all Vitamix blenders.
If you couldn’t tell, I’m a huge fan of this model.
Unboxing
In these massive reviews, I’ll open up the box and explore what’s inside. Credit to my friend Ray Maker for showing me how enjoyable these unveilings are. Here it is. The Vitamix Pro 750 unboxed.
There’s the unassuming, blank cardboard box you’ll get from Vitamix.
Open it up to reveal the Pro 750 in all its glory.
All Vitamix boxes have a carrying handle. Could you bring this box through the airport? Yes. Do I recommend it? Not so much.
Every inch of these boxes are well designed.
A great overview of the preset programs.
And my favorite part of opening these boxes is this. Breaking the seal.
Pop.
Be careful around the edges of this box. It’s sharp.
On top, the accessories and cookbook.
The Create cookbook is specific to the Pro 750. Comes wrapped in plastic to assure freshness.
Here are items inside the Welcome Box. Getting Started guide, owner’s manual, and DVD.
And the tamper. It’s shorter than old tampers to fit inside this low-profile, Next Generation model. Don’t use an old tamper if you had a Vitamix in the past. It’s probably too long and will hit the blades.
The big reveal.
Hello, guys.
Nothing like a brand new container. Like a new car, sorta. Simply mint.
I like to let the container visualize the possibilities.
Finally, the Brushed Stainless 750. Sexy.
To the right. You can see it’s on/off button. A feature unique to all Next Generation models.
All together now, your Vitamix Pro 750. The gold standard.

Pro 750 vs 7500
The Vitamix Pro 750 is very similar to the Vitamix 7500. Both are from the Next Generation lineup, which was introduced in 2011.
All next generation units, like the Pro 750 and 7500, have similar designs, all featuring:
- Lower-profile. Counter and cabinet friendly height.
- Wider container. Houses larger blades.
- Most powerful, quietest motor.
The big difference between the Pro 750 and the Vitamix 7500 is the user interface. The Pro 750 has preset programs for worry-free operation. Need it to clean itself? Turn the dial to the self-cleaning program and press start. The 7500, however, must be operated manually.
One more difference between the Pro 750 and the 7500 is the color. The pro 750 comes in brushed stainless, while the 7500 does not.
Pro 750 vs Pro 500
The Pro 750 and the Pro 500 are hardly similar. They share preset programming functions, but that’s about it.
The Pro 750 is a Next Generation unit, while the Pro 500 is a Traditional unit. Comparatively, the Pro 750 has a more powerful motor, lower profile, and much longer blades. Yes, the Pro 500 is a great machine. But because of its Next Generation features, the Pro 750 is far superior
At the time of its release, the Pro 500 was the latest and greatest. But since 2011 when the Next Generation lineup was released, the Pro 750 has held the throne.
Controls
The controls on the Pro 750 make precise operation easy. Yes, the controls are very similar to other Next Generation models. But, there are a couple key differences that set the Pro 750 apart from the pack. We’ll go left to right.
The pulse button
The pulse button is actually not a differentiator. It’s unique to the Next Generation models, but identical to the pulse button on the 7500.
The control dial
The control dial on the Pro 750 is noteworthy.
It’s bigger than the traditional models (5200, etc), which helps with precision. But the best part about the Pro 750 control? The five preset programs displayed on the left. If you want your Vitamix Professional Series 750 to make soup, just turn the dial to the soup setting, press start and walk away. It stops when its done. I love this.
Start / stop switch
Finally, the power switch on the right. The start / stop switch on the Pro 750 is:
- Unique to the Pro 750.
- Like an “activate” button.
- Enhances safety.
The Pro 750’s start / stop switch activates the motor per the control dial’s setting. For example, if the control dial is set to variable speed 2, pressing start will run the motor at variable speed 2. Likewise, if the control dial is set to neutral, pressing start does nothing to the motor. So, the motor will only turn on when the dial is set to a speed or program and you hit start.
The start /stop switch on the 7500, however, is more like a light switch. Flip it on and the motor runs, no matter what the dial says. I’ll go into more detail on how this impacts safety below. But, I must say, this is the most underrated feature of the Pro 750.
Preset Programs
Unique to the Professional Series 750 is the preset programs. I wasn’t sure I’d like it. I wasn’t sure I’d need it. But oh, how I was wrong. The preset programs on the Pro 750 are fantastic. And they are worth it.
Basically, the preset programs eliminate all fear.
- No worries about making a smoothie correctly.
- No fear of letting it run for too long.
- No concern about maintaining it properly.
I’ve tried all the preset programs and appreciate them all. They definitely make life easier. From the bottom, going clockwise, there’s Cleaning, PurĂ©es, Soups, Frozen Desserts, and Smoothies.
The Cleaning program is my favorite, for sure. Of course, calling it my favorite doesn’t do the program justice. Everything is relative. Just like you could pick a favorite fluoride rinse flavor.
So I’ll say it a better way. I love the Cleaning program. It saves me time, let’s me multitask, and ensures I’m giving my Vitamix the best possible care. See what I mean.
Brushed Stainless Color
The color on the Pro 750 is stunning. It isn’t clear from the photos online. But the Brushed Stainless is very sharp-looking.
They call it Brushed Stainless, but I prefer to call it gold. It’s fitting since the Pro 750 is the gold-standard Vitamix.
In my basic (read: ugly) kitchen, the Pro 750 still really pops. In a kitchen with stainless steel appliances, this thing would be right at home.
Sound
#Â |Â Back to top
Like all the Next Gen models, the Pro 750 is quieter than predecessor versions. Vitamix Corp markets a 40% quieter run volume. While I my tests don’t support that claim, these models are definitely a bit quieter.
The biggest impact on noise reduction is at low speeds. My tests showed the Pro 750 to be much quieter than a Traditional 5200 at low speeds.
At high speeds, however, the Vitamix Pro 750 is just a bit quieter. I captured a few decible difference. By ear, though, I couldn’t notice the difference.
Since they are essentially the same motor, the Pro 750 and 7500 output the same amount of noise.
Accessories
#Â |Â Back to top
The Pro 750 comes with several high-value accessories.
Recipe book
The recipe book that comes with the Pro 750 is called “Create.”
It’s a legitimate, hard-cover, full-color cookbook. It’s organized by weekdays and weekends. And with 350+ pages, it’s vast enough to keep you inspired for many years.
Welcome packet
The welcome packet is one of my favorite parts of any new Vitamix. The packaging is so well designed. And, you’re in for a surprise when you open it up. It’s a feeling of newness and crispness. You’ll see.
Inside is a DVD hosted by Chef Michael Voltaggio. If I still had a DVD player and patience, I’d watch it.
Getting started guide
The Getting Started guide is the perfect summary. It’s part recipe book and part owners manual. It’s made for new owners because it’s simple and to the point. Veteran Vitamix owners, too, can appreciate this guide. It’s very well done.
Safety
#Â |Â Back to top
The Pro 750 is by far the safest Vitamix you can buy.
Like all Vitamixes, the motor has Auto Overload Protection. This will automatically shut down the motor if its overheating.
Secondly, the Pro 750 has an On / Off switch. This is good for households with children. And, it’s helpful to adults that act like children. Like me.
Finally, and most significantly, note the Pro 750’s Start / Stop switch. It’s located on the front panel, right side. The Start / Stop switch on the Pro 750 is more like an electric “activate” button. So, any setting on the control dial must be “activated” by pressing the Start / Stop switch. The safety here is outstanding. Accidentally turning the Pro 750 motor is nearly impossible.
The Start / Stop switch on the 7500 is more like a light switch. It doesn’t matter where the control dial is positioned. Flicking 7500’s switch up will  always run the motor. See what I mean.
I absolutely love the Pro 750’s Start / Stop switch. And it’s only on the Pro 750.

Conclusion
The Vitamix Professional Series 750 is truly the gold standard. With Next Generation technology, preset programming and a brushed stainless finish, it’s the best Vitamix money can buy. Not to mention, it’s the safest.
I tested the Pro 750 for weeks and really liked it. Five stars.
Bottom line recommendation: Buy.

Hi Lenny, can you tell me about the pulse button? When I push mine I can’t see that anything is happening. I thought it would make a surge or do something that was obvious… perhaps my pulse button is a dud..
Thanks!
Jen
Sam -
Hi
does the middle dial light up or is mine just not working?
Lenny Gale -
While the stuff around the dial DOES light up, the dial itself does not.
Hi Lenny ,
I guess mine is defected. So the numbers and the six preset program icon do light up… Mine only got the Stop, Start, Pulse only lighting up..
Thanks !!
Hi Lenny
Great blog! Highly informative I learned a lot. Got a question about the 750 Pro. Is there any difference in variable speeds 1-2 on your machine? On mine there is no difference in the sound or speed between those two low settings and I’m concerned I may have a defective unit. I posed this same question on Amazon and was told by the first responder that yes there is a distinct difference that’s readily apparent in the speed (rpm’s) and sound of all the settings.
Thanks, Randy!
I’ve noticed a negligible difference between the higher speeds, but the lower ones should be more obvious. I would suggest calling Customer Service at 1-800-Vitamix. The precision at low speeds is where you get most of your control. It could be a very small adjustment that’s needed, but a worthwhile one, none-the-less. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any further questions.
Hi:
Would you please tell me the difference between the Pro 750 and Heritage Pro 750?
I am new to Vitamix.
Thank you.
Hi Sandra,
Great question. From a performance, power, and usability perspective, there is no difference between the original Pro 750 and a Heritage Pro 750. From a look, durability, and price perspective, there are small (all quite beneficial) differences. This article details those differences. And to unlock the special price, be sure to change the color to “Brushed Stainless” when viewing the Pro 750 online.
Thank you so much for the detailed information.
I also read that the dial is not illuminated as in the Pro 750. Is this correct?
Can you tell me when the all black model will be available. The website states it is out of stock. Is that metal also?
Thanks for being there.
S
Is the 750 base compatible with the smaller carafes (32/48oz)?
It sure is!
Does the Vitamix 750 have a manual function as well or just the program modes?
Manual controls, too. The dial functions as both a manual, variable speed dial and a toggle to the pre-programmed settings. 🙂
I think my decision has ben made over this vs. 500! Ordering the 750 today 🙂 Thankyou!
My pleasure, Sally. Excited for you.
The Pro 750 is the one I use daily.
Pair it with the 20oz container cup for the perfect smoothie-making setup.
Great site Lenny, good source of info! I’m new to Vitamix and have been having some problems with mine. I have been having some bad leaking from the lid that seems to get loose. I believe that happens due to bad design or material, im on my 3 vitamix container replacement. I noticed that it loosened after making soup more constantly, that’s my only explanation as I’m very careful with it and follow the care instructions.
Have you had any similar problem?
Also you said in a post that frozen bananas scratch the container. How can I avoid that?
Thanks!
Haven’t experienced leaking at all. What kind of soup are you making? And how often?
Mine is leaking after one week ! Good eh
Hey Lenny and Helen. I actually discovered thru Vitamix that there is a faulty lid and that is the reason of leaking. They never actually said that with these words, but after a long exchange of e-mails with them regarding my leaking problem they said they were sending me a new model lid made of a different material and with a different serial code. It is definitely sturdier and less glossy, almost identical but this one doesn’t leak. I’ve been making soups on a regular basis for months now and there is still no leaking. I’m surprised there wasnt a recall for these lids because they are certainly not fit for its use.
Helen, contact Vitamix and request a new lid of the new material! 🙂
Great site. However your sound test does in fact confirm Vitamix’s claim. A difference of 3 dB is about a factor of two in sound. Looks like their claim is a little conservative actually based on your test. The reason it doesn’t seem different is because both 91 and 95 dB are very loud to the human ear. Perhaps it is still true that a 40% reduction from 95 dB is not much of a difference.
Thanks, David. Couldn’t have put it better myself.
Cause I didn’t. 🙂
Great review. I a big Vitamix fan. Only got the 5200 series but she sure does gets the job done.
Lenny… terrific, entertaining, and highly informative review. Thanks!
You’re welcome. Thanks for the day-making comment!
Lenny: Thanks for the great review. I have a VM500. It replaced my workhorse Vitmaix of 20+ years [still going strong with a friend]. I am about to donate my 500 to the office, and get either a 750, or a Blendtec Stealth or a VitaMix Quiet One. Something about the Blendtecs and all the reviews around gasket issues, etc., has me a bit put off. But thats up to me to figure out. My question for you, after seeing your Stealth and this 750 review is: have you ever used/reviewed a VM Quiet One? Or Blend Station Advance? These are available for less than the Stealth, but I am having a hard time finding anyone who can compare the smoothie blending capabilities of the commercial machines with raw material like fruits, veggies, and greens. Keep up the great work!
Hi Greg,
Thanks for the kind words.
I am yet to test a Vitamix Quiet One. But here’s my general take on commercial models:
They’re quieter (hooded, often) and more powerful than the home versions. BUT, the performance doesn’t outweigh the marginal cost (usually 3x more) and more-limited warranty (usually 50% less) of the commercial units. If you’re buying for your home, a Pro 750 is all you need.
That answer your question?
I completely agree with your analysis Lenny, completely. Even at a discount, you can buy two 750 machines for the price of a 36019. But the one difference is that quiet. The 36019 is an incredibly quieter machine. So I will still likely get a 750 [through one of your links], but for the all-around quiet blending capabilities, I am still stuck on the 36019. I don’t care for the Blendtec Stealth [apologies to Blendtec fans; no insult is meant; I am just a Vitamix guy], so a truly quieter machine requires an enclosure, and VM seems to have done a beautiful job with the enclosure of the Quiet One.
I really enjoy your discussions about the Vitamix. I had two pages open at the same time: a page to the Vitamix website and a page to NOYOKE. Your pages convinced me but unfortunately I didn’t read the part about you getting reimbursed by click-through until after I’d made the order at the Vitamix site. I will call the company tomorrow to see whether they will still give you credit (today is New Years and they are closed). I’ll let you know how that goes. In the meantime, a couple ideas. Maybe mention in your reviews early that you have click-through that will give them the best pricing and then later on mention your potential “conflict of interest”. This way people will initially click from your pages due to them being value-minded, and then later they’ll feel good because it benefited you. Your posts are great. Keep it up and thanks.
Hi Dave,
Really appreciate the kind words. And, the feedback you gave is really solid. You make a good point. I am just always concerned about being too pushy (like some other Vitamix affiliates).
Congrats on the Vitamix! Hopefully they can assign the credit to me. If not, no big deal. 🙂
Thanks again for the note. Communications like this make my job so fulfilling.
Good things,
Lenny
