Getting an A3500 but not sure which color (or metal finish) to get?
Assuming you already you’ve already done a Vitamix model comparison, here’s everything you need to know.

Quick overview of A3500 Colors:
Not sure which color A3500 to pick? Here ya go:
- Brushed Stainless fits the best in most kitchens
- Graphite Metal is like matte black
- Black Stainless is like brushed gold or gunmetal
- Copper is great but only in ultra-chic kitchens;
- All-White is a stain-resistant plastic shell.
- Red is just red

Graphite is a matte black and the easiest to clean
Because the Graphite A3500 is a matte black, it’s the easiest to clean.
But here’s the deal: It’s all relative.
The surface area of these machines is so small. So it probably matters less than you think.
Still, the graphite will hide fingerprints and smudges the best.
White is an all-white plastic (that shouldn’t stain)
The White A3500 is pretty cool because it is white all the way around. Even the logo in back is whited-out.
But it is a plastic shell, unlike the metal ones.
Now, the plastic shell shouldn’t stain (like some white appliances). But there is a small difference in the sound output compared to the metal ones.
It being a tiny bit less hushed shouldn’t be a deterrent for you, though. All things considered, it’s still one of the quietest Vitamix models and it looks great in the right kitchen.
Black Stainless is not really black
The Black Stainless A3500 is more of a gunmetal. So it changes colors depending on the light.
Next to the Brushed Stainless, it looks dark gray.
Next to the Graphite, it looks like brushed gold.
There’s usually is a premium for Black Stainless. But there’s only a premium for premium’s sake — the Black Stainless is not any quieter or more durable.
Of note, you can now get a Black Stainless A3500 with a Stainless Steel Container (review). This is a nice choice for people wanting a 48-ounce container without paying extra.
Conclusion
Brushed Stainless is probably the A3500 color you want. But you can’t go wrong with any of them, unless you go with Copper and don’t have Copper in your kitchen already. 👍

It’s interesting you suggest that the color of someones blender (if they had the option to choose their color) says something about that persons character or personality in terms of motivation. I got a red Vitamix because I wanted something bright and cheerful, but it wasn’t my first choice. In retrospect I wish I had gotten a Creations GC in the “Berry” color which was a sort of purple color. I wonder what you thing that color would say about me or my level of motivation. I actually have had my vitamix for over 2 years and have never used it to make a smoothie or any food item. Originally I exchanged a Blendtec to get a Vitamix after I found out their blades were non-replaceable and they spit black carbon dust out of the bottom. But my original vitamix containers had the black fleck problem. So I got replacements and the new ones had oil that leaked out of the blades into the jar with the same water tests. So I ran over 50 cycles trying to get the oil out of the blades. This wore me out and discouraged me greatly. Eventually the oil seemed to go away but those containers never got replaced the machine has been gathering dust ever since. I once tried to wash my 48oz container thinking I might use it but I accidentally scratched the plastic with a “non-scratch” scouring pad/sponge. This discouraged me even more. I swore I would’nt use it again until I could get a replacement NEW 48oz container, which hasn’t happened. In the interim I had gotten a Hamilton Beach Commercial Blender called “Tournant” that came with a stainless steel container. That eventually had to be returned after finding out that the motor made a bad “new” smell that wouldn’t go away even after running it for over 30 cycles. The stainless steel container lid also leaked. The seal was bad. Testing it with water would cause the water to spurt out from under the lid. They sent me a replacement container and it had the exact same problem. This was an extremely discouraging experience for me also. But I was left with a spare Hamilton Beach Stainless Steel container. I have been searching for a used (well broken in) Hamilton Beach Commercial Motor Base on ebay ever since. They have a few other compatible models that can take the stainless container besides the Tournant. These include the Fury, the Tempest, and the Summit. I just recently got a good deal on a used Summit bar blender. It’s well broken in. I plan to get a new replacement polycarbonate container and lid for it since the old one it came with is deeply scratched, clouded, and also leaks from under the lid with a water test run. I also plan to purchase a food grade silicone O-ring for the rubber lid on my stainless container to try and give it a solid watertight seal. Other than that the motor purrs and sounds good on this machine that shows in it’s digital log that it’s already been through over 25,000 blending cycles! So well broken in is kind of an understatement. I hope it’s not getting worn out, but we’ll have to see about that. I think it’s still good to go. So maybe after all this description it shows that I am not a very motivated person. Motivated to save money, sure but not motivated to do healthy things like make myself health drinks with an expensive machine that’s been just sitting around for years. But I have OCD and am on the “autism spectrum” so that probably factors in a little bit, I would imagine. I am also a fatal perfectionist. My standards are so high that even I cannot meet them. When I receive a piece of equipment that is flawed in some way, I have a hard time being able to reconcile the difference, and I just get emotionally stuck and blocked over it. I had a 3 pound bag of organic frozen strawberries and other frozen fruit from costco go bad from sitting in my freezer for over a year because of being hung up over my vitamix not being perfect and having problems. I never even wanted a blender with a plastic container. I’m still considering buying a CAC90 Waring Stainless steel container they say it supposed to able to fit on top of a vitamix, but they’re crazy expensive at over $200. Hopefully I can use my Hamilton Beach Summit. It’s motor base is black, fat, and stocky. It’s a 3 horsepower machine that normally sells new for almost $1000. But I got mine used for under $100. You misspelled the word “right” in this article by putting a “W” in front of it. My friend has a white vitamix that he got used for cheap and he has never used it either as far as I know. Even got a new container for it. I guess he must lack motivation too! I wish I could get motivated to make smoothies. All my interest in “High Powered” started from going to a “Jeff Primack” Chi-Gong workshop,. where he suggested you need a 3Hp blender such as blendtec to pulverize and consume avocado pits. The blendtec blender was the first one I had but it didn’t meet my standards mainly because the blade was non-replaceable. Everything devolved for me from there. These last 3 to 5 years has been a virtual nightmare for me when it comes to dealing with blenders, and I still have never made a smoothie. I went and got one from Jamba Juice but it was not very good because they used ice from a machine that needed it’s filters changed. I got a green smoothie from them that tasted like mildew and chlorinated water. Yuck! Then they went out of business before I could ever go back and get a replacement! I got a smoothie from the “Smoothie King” that was insanely sweet. I could not even drink it. When I called they said too bad that they wouldn’t be able to remake or give my money back. I hate smoothie king. I will never go there again!

I wanted to take advantage of the sale while I could, so today I purchased the white, classic C series model (which one? It’ll be a mystery until it arrives on my doorstep!). I’ve heard wonderful things about Vitamix’s reconditioned units that I figured, why not? I reasoned I should get it as a back up in case my Pro 750 (G series) gets tired one day. Seriously. Who does this? Anyway. Did it. Used your code and sent a brief message to Lenny to let him know the confirmation (order) number. I was tempted to consider a basic Blendtec but then quickly snapped out of it!
