You call for Stevia as the sweetener in virtually all of your recipes. What’s your feeling about Agave syrup and other stuff?
Hi Steve,
Stevia is my go-to. It seems to go best in my smoothies. Really brings out the taste of everything that I put in that’s originally unsweetened (almond milk, peanut butter, etc.).
I’m fine with Agave syrup. From what I’ve read, though, it’s awfully processed. But I haven’t tested it in my recipes. I’m sure it could be used interchangeably with Stevia though. Of all the other sweeteners, that and honey are probably 2nd best to stevia.
Other sweeteners you’d find in a coffee shop are all things I stay away from.
Hey Lenny! Virtually all of your recipes call for a banana. Sadly, I can’t eat bananas. Long story, but there it is. Anyway, what would be a good substitute? I’m thinking maybe vanilla low-fat yogurt in combo with oatmeal would provide some volume along with sweetness and texture.
Steve,
I am mostly dairy-free at this point.
BUT.
I used Greek yogurt (and sometimes oats) instead of banana in some smoothies. To your point, that should make it thicker. Stevia for sweetness.
This banana-free smoothie is incredible:
Raspberry Lemonade Smoothie
Peanut Butter & Jelly is also banana free and one of my go-to’s.
P.S. I liked your comment on my YouTube video.
