This 4-ingredient grapefruit smoothie recipe is the best
You gotta try this grapefruit smoothie.
It’s simple with just four ingredients. So it’s easy to make no matter what blender you have.
And it’s absolutely delicious. The grapefruit makes it naturally tart and it has some sweetness from the strawberry and apple.
Add a bit of cold water and use fresh berries (instead of frozen) and you have a whole food juice.
Watch us making it at minute 18 of our Three Vitamix Juices video:
The story behind this blend: A Saturday morning surprise (circa 2016)
You know some things taste better on a hot summer day? Or after a workout?
This grapefruit smoothie is one of those things.
Shalva handed me a glass of this drink on a scorchingly hot Saturday morning. I had been finishing up a house project so had worked up a sweat (and appetite).
I had one sip and was speechless.
So refreshing, so good.
If something could taste like summer, this would be it.
But what about the name?
We wanted to give it a clever name without touching on its color (pink). We landed on The Pinkman which made it a bit less girly. (We were also really into Breaking Bad at the time.)

The Pinkman: one of the best all-fruit smoothies on one of the best websites of all time. 😉

Useful tips for The Pinkman
Most blenders should be able to handle this drink. But for the silky-smoothest, restaurant-quality consistency you pictured here, you’ll want to use a Vitamix.
Because there’s no added ice or water, it holds its magical consistency pretty well and is actually quite good the next day. (We made a batch the other night for our road trip the next morning!)
In our experience, it last in the fridge for a few days.
If you want to give it a juice consistency, add 4 ounces of water and use fresh berries instead of frozen. It should still stay together nicely.

Made it exactly and the ginger is super overpowering. If you don’t like the taste of ginger I would leave it out or mask it with banana or something that can soften the taste.

Returning after six years give this smoothie / juice the love it deserves. Grapefruit smoothies don’t sounds good. But this thing is really special. I’m salivating just thinking about it. (Or maybe is it thinking about the tartness?) An excellent drink, guys. Make it!
It was a bit too tart for me, so I mixed this smoothie with this one ➡️ dates, almond milk, banana, & frozen mango chunks. It was a perfect mix of sweet and tart! 👌🏼 & pretty looking too!
Heyhey! Nice work! Yeah, we *were* going to tall this one the “Tarty Girl”
This morning I made this for our breakfast…with a couple changes. We did not have frozen strawberries so I used fresh ones and added 1 1/2 cups ice cubes on top. I also had a small VERY ripe banana that I added before. It went by totally. This was very tasty. Thanks so much for posting it.
Glad you liked it, Patricia. Good modifications and suggestions, too! Thanks!
