Hi! Here’s what’s new, exciting, and thought provoking from our Life is NOYOKE world.
This is the online version of our weekly email newsletter, 5 Good Things. To get it delivered to your inbox on Saturdays, you can subscribe right here.
1. New recipe posts we’re drooling over
+ This Christmas cocktail because why not. Quite delicious. (It’s like a frozen moscow mule with cranberry juice. Oh yeah.)
2. Classic recipe we’re re-showcasing
Two protein shakes this week. They’re both variations on the new NOYOKE shake. It’s the Chiberia Chiller (shown below in Shalva’s mittens) and the PB&J smoothie. And because someone asked this week via our Instagram, we use Vega, a vegan protein powder available on Amazon or at Costco.
3. New blog posts, site updates, and other things we’re proud to be sharing
A note on the posts we add to the recipe index: There is something food bloggers, cookbook writers, and other recipe creators won’t tell you. The recipes they publish may not actually be good. Nor do they necessarily actually work. They just need to have a good title and a pretty featured image. Think about it. If you make something using a recipe and it turns out poorly, who do you blame? Yourself, right? Well, “publish it no matter what” is not how we roll around here. Fortunately, we’ve gotten pretty good at getting recipes right the first or second try. Now, I realize this is starting to sound like a pat on our own backs. And it kind of is. But it’s also an opportunity to remind you that we aren’t in this for clicks. We’re in this because we care. So with this knowledge, you can have the confidence that the vegan Vitamix recipes we post (that’s all we do these days) are legitimately awesome. Recipes like this Creamy Wild Rice Soup and this Vegan Corn Bread aren’t just pretty pictures. They’re things you should make because you and your loved ones will love them. Okay, stepping off my soap box now.
4. Vitamix news and updates we’re enjoying
We got to visit Vitamix HQ this past November. Among other cool things (to be revealed soon), we got to chat with two Vitamix CEO’s; the current and a former. A really fun conversation we posted this week to YouTube. Check it out!
+ You can learn a lot from leaders of great businesses. Jodi Berg is no exception. From her, we got some interesting insight into her family’s success in business, her leadership style, her response to skepticism, and a few Vitamix blending tips. In this article, we’re sharing some Words of Wisdom from Vitamix CEO Jodi Berg.
+ Reminder that you can click here to see our Vitamix holiday deal picks.
+ And that if you order a CR 7500 or CR Pro 750 (review) for $100 off and $120 off respectively, you get Jodi’s “The Vitamix Cookbook” for free as a holiday gift with purchase. Sorry friends from Canada looking to get a Vitamix; this is a US only special.
5. Articles, posts, and products from around the web we’re thinking about
From day one, I’ve said I’m not in it for the money. If I was, I’d be trying to get my supplements on Dr. Oz. Originally delivered to me by the terrific daily newsletter NextDraft (the place I get many of these noteworthy links I share in our newsletter), here’s the article you should check out: A sickening look into the business of wellness. Basically, a look at all the scams that are designed to cure you of your money.
+ From NPR: Trying to understand why asparagus makes your pee smell.
Okay, all for now. Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend.
