How many of these 8 lean-body foods are in your fridge? (I have all eight)
You know what I love about lean-body foods?
Everything.
Let’s be honest. The list below should not be called “8 lean-body foods.”
It should be called “The Holy 8.”
Why so awesome?
These foods are all:
- Super healthy.
- Super delicious.
- Super flexible because they’re good with SO many things.
Sure, these foods can help you lose weight and build muscle.
But I like ’em because of the way they make me feel, too.
More energized, more confident, more happy.
And most importantly…
…they improve my ability to focus on my work.
So, without further ado…
The Holy 8 Lean-Body Foods
Avocado
Everyone knows eating some “good fats” is important. Avocado has those SUPER fats, plus more.
Not to mention, avocado is freaking delicious.
I eat almost avocado every day. On omelets, in salads, and as guacamole. So many of my simple meals are made 10x better just by adding some avocado.
Some have called avocado “nature’s mayonnaise.”
Listen…
There are two eras of your life.
- Before Avocado.
- After Avocado.
If you’re not already there, it’s time for some avocado in your life.
Grapefruit
Grapefruit is one of the healthiest, most filling, tastiest foods on the planet.
It’s so convenient. It’s like an instant meal.
No, they’re NOT good office snacks.
But at home, there’s no better add-on to breakfast or late-night snack than a grapefruit.
Plus, they’re incredible in salads, like this easy one made with arugula.
If you aren’t able to handle the bitterness of grapefruit, try adding some stevia or honey.
And the best part?
You do NOT need to buy organic. I buy a bag of 8 grapefruits (non-organic) on every trip to the store.
Raw almonds
People jokingly ask me if I eat anything besides raw almonds.
Any idea why?
Because raw almonds are the MOST healthy food on the planet. Eat as many as you want, forever.
If you think raw almonds are too tough to swallow, you’re not alone.
But, who said you had to eat ’em alone?
Almonds are great with raisins, in salads, and blended into smoothies.
Hummus
Hummus is the ultimate add-on. It’s good on chips, cucumbers, broccoli, chicken, really anything.
It’s super flavorful and is mostly very healthy.
No, it’s not as healthy as NOT eating hummus. But overall, hummus is pretty damn healthy.
Plus, it’s the ultimate snack food. Did you know hummus is great with apples?
And it’s good at every single meal. (Yes, even breakfast.)
You can buy packs of Hummus at any major grocery store in individual size or tubs (my preference). Hummus has become popular enough that you can find it at many convenience stores now, too.
Often I’ll make my own. Tastes 10x better and is totally worth the effort. I usually use this roasted red pepper hummus recipe. Or if I’m feeling adventurous, I’ll make black olive hummus.
Broccoli
Broccoli is one of the easiest ways to get greens into your body.
You can:
- Dip it (raw).
- Fry it (Asian-food style).
- Microwave it (not the healthiest, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do).
Pick up a bag of pre-cut, organic broccoli florets. They’re not expensive. They last a long time. And they’re awesome.
Egg whites
No other protein compares to egg whites.
Egg whites are the only protein with:
- Zero fat
- Zero cholesterol.
- Zero taste.
If you’re not eating egg whites, it’s time to wake up.
Egg whites were put on this earth to serve two species.
- Baby chickens: They nourish and support baby chicken fetuses (yolks) during gestation (gross, I know).
- Humans: They nourish and support our lean, active bodies.
I buy 100% liquid (pasteurized) cage-free egg whites from Trader Joe’s. Costco sometimes sells liquid egg whites, as well.
If you ARE NOT trying to lose a little weight or build a little muscle, you should NOT have egg whites in your house.
On the other hand… 🙂
Almond milk
Almond milk is the new milk.
I mean, really, who drinks cow’s milk anymore?
All of my best smoothies use almond milk
Either way, here’s a more detailed explanation of the perils of cow’s milk and dairy in general.
Organic apples
Apples are one of the best foods for you. After all, an apple-a-day keeps the doctor away (and you pooping). 🙂
But here’s the problem:
Non-organic apples are some of the filthiest fruits. Pesticides, hormones, genetic modification, etc.
So, organic is the way to go with apples.
Plus, they taste SO much better.
Bottom line
What are you waiting for?
Go load up on these lean-body foods now!
Your love life can thank me later.
P.S. I just implied that if you eat these foods you will have better sex more often.
