You gotta try this French Onion Dip
Should we grab some French Onion Dip?
Who hasn’t uttered this phrase during a last-minute grocery run before a party?
Well, now you don’t need to grab it. You can just make it.
This version is fresher, better, and of course, dairy-free.
Here’s our newest vegan Vitamix recipe, French onion dip. And yes, we thought of it before a big party.
Because it was Super Bowl Weekend
It’s Superbowl this weekend and Sunday is all about dips.
We’ve already perfected our cashew queso, guacamole, and a few salsas. But we wanted another vegan dip to add to our Super Bowl recipe arsenal.
French onion dip was an obvious choice. It’s classic, it’s salty, it’s creamy, it’s a perfect vehicle for getting vegetables into our mouths (and also chips, but let’s pretend we didn’t say that).
Prepackaged – no thanks
Easiest way to have french onion dip? Buy it pre-made.
Second easiest? Buy some sour cream and a packet of french onion soup. Then mix.
Third easiest, healthiest, and vegan? Make our recipe for vegan sour cream, add some things you already have in your cabinets. Feel good about your crazy dip-making skills.
To get the right texture here you’re going to want to use a high-powered blender. This is the Vitamix we use daily.
If you make it, share it! Use #lifeisnoyke and show us how you did.
Go make this vegan dip. It’s so easy and your dairy-free friends will be psyched!

I really want to make this but all I have is some soft tofu. I used all of my extra firm tofu. I have made this in the past with the extra and it is very good!! I’m just curious if it will work with the soft tofu.

Soft tofu works because it’s all blended up anyway!
Just made this recipe! We added in a teaspoon of dill as well and half a teaspoon more of soy sauce and it came out so yummy!! Highly recommend.
Dill is one of my favorites, I’ll have to try that next time!
Great dip! Hits all the right places in the palette and brain. Very excited to add this to the arsenal!
Yes! That may be the best recipe compliment we’ve ever received!
Heading out on a 5 Family camping trip complete with: vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, soy-free & dairy free campers…. (not all at the same time ?. Super excited to have a recipe that address all of the dietary restrictions of our group and no one is left out. I made a batch with dairy sour cream and a vegan batch… I actually like the vegan on better… ?

Hi! I’ve made this once, but I was curious what kind of tofu you used (silken or regular and soft/firm/extra firm)? I used regular extra firm tofu and just pressed some of the liquid out with my hands before blending. Turned out great!
Hi ALex, we should definitely be more clear here. We used extra firm tofu and also pressed the liquid out. Great minds think alike! Will update the recipe, thanks 🙂
